Politically Polite
I don’t care about politics – so lapidate me. But I am brave enough to admit it.
There are countless people out there who like to comment on every little line in their favorite newspaper which consists mainly of big colored pictures and shockingly little text. And the few characters that can be found on each page don’t linger shy in one well researched column: Big, bold and stupid they trumpet their politically colored overtones straight into your face – provided you can read.
And those very people think of themselves as experts in politics, foreign policy, economy and rebus – just of everything. Even listening to their “discussions” about their favorite party makes me want to spill my guts because of their sheer stupidity. That’s why I say in the first place that I don’t care about politics: Because politics are much more complicated than your favorite paper (even if it’s a good one) is able tell you unexpurgated. And I don’t trust fifth hand information.
What if?
What if politics were separated from people who represent the parties? Of course, that would be not possible, but is definitely worth a thought or two.
What if you don’t vote for a certain person who promises the people what they want to hear just to get into a powerful position? What if parties stick to their goals they set when they were founded and don’t adjust to the public opinion all the time just to be in the parliament/congress? What if you vote for party x because you personally are pro abortion and don’t have to fret after the election about the fact, that party x was rather pro abortion all the time? What if…?
Don’t get me wrong: Politics are important for every country, essential for every vital democracy and there a quite some good people involved. And many, many people with profiling neurosis.
But what do I know anyway. I don’t care about politics.
