“Worst Episode Ever!”; The Simpsons Movie
Posted in Films, Reviews
Ever heard of Gilgamesh? He is the hero of the world’s oldest epic. Gilgamesh becomes a hero on his journeys. That pretty much sums up the Simpsons movie I went to see with Lisa and about 50 other people yesterday. Sitting in the third row of the Royal English Cinema was a better idea thanks to the fairly big screen and the comfortable seats. A short report of our experience follows below. No spoilers, as usual. -

David Lynch’s INLAND EMPIRE
Posted in Films, Reviews
If you want to see a pair of tits in a non pornographic context then take an arts class or watch art films. Lisa and I went to see David Lynch‘s (not so) newest film INLAND EMPIRE (all caps) in the Rechbauerkino in Graz today (actually yesterday). Because these little artsy theaters don’t sell popcorn or nachos we went to the Cineplexx first, that was swamped with rednecks from the peripherals of Graz and got us a hunk of nachos with cheese and salsa for a bunch of money. Funny thing was that we even made it back downtown in time and got seats in the second row 1. And then INLAND EMPIRE started.Don’t worry! No spoilers ahead!

Read the rest…- The Rechbauerkino theater is fairly small so sitting in the second row is like sitting in the middle of a big theater ↩

From Dusk Till Dawn: Moving Out
Posted in Reports
Last Wednesday afternoon I got a call from the Salzburg student home administration to move out by Friday 11am which meant more or less a catastrophe for me: My room was sooo cluttered and stuffed with electronics that it would be next to the impossible to get everything out by Friday. And to make things worse: Our rendering project Codename: Windshield that had started in December 2006 also needed to be finished by Friday. -

Maya chews my PNGs
Posted in CGI & Rendering
When working 9 to 14 hours a day with Autodesk Maya 8.0 you soon encounter the strangest problems. In my opinioin the most annoying problem is Maya eating up my PNG files and then produce a pnglib Error in an infinite loop while rendering. First I thought it happened because I use a SanDisk 4 GB USB-stick for working (!) but it even happened with an external USB diskdrive and even when saved local. And it doesn’t happen right away. -

♫ Angelo
Posted in Music, Seph Carissa / texx sound
I finally feel ready to blog some new audio piece by me and my alternate personality, texx sound who pushes me to produce music now and then. And sometimes, like last week, he comes from the depths of my subconscious he steps down into my ego, takes it over and won’t let me go to sleep until I finally make another musical piece that he’s satisfied with. So here it is, finished around 5:30am after an 19 hrs day and with 3 hours of sleep to come. -

My 1990′s, Pt. 1: PC Gaming Mags
Posted in Games, Random Thoughts, Reports, Retro, Reviews
My favorite PC gaming magazine, GameStar decided not to print cheats, tricks and hints for games anymore:The internet has established itself as source for cheats and hints; you will find more up to date and more accurate walk-throughs at www.gamestar.de and on many other sites than possible in the magazine. 1
That is another way of telling that printed media are sooner or later becoming extinct. That’s why I decided to take a look back into the wild and crazy 1990s and my personal experiences with PC-Gaming magazines.
Read the rest…- Original: Das Internet hat sich als Quelle für Cheats und Tipps etabliert, auf www.gamestar.de und vielen anderen Seiten finden Sie aktuellere und ausführlichere Lösungen, als sie in einem Heft möglich sind. ↩

Some days
Posted in Random Thoughts
Some days coming home feels like returning to a cluttered hotel room with a jet lag in the middle of the night after a long journey. In this hotel room something began to smell ugly but you don’t have the energy to investigate.

Shrek, the Third
Posted in CGI & Rendering, Films, Reports
I went to see Shrek 3 with Lisa today (actually yesterday) at the Royal English Cinema in Graz. Actually that movie theater is not more “Royal” than any other theater, only they run the flicks in English rather than dubbed in German (and sometimes rather poorly). And especially Shrek 3 is one movie that you want to see with the original audio track.I won’t go through the movie in detail but provide you more or less with some things that caught my attention during the movie (without spoilers of course!).
