The Portal Postal System Works!

I already suspected that the guy I ran over with my car last week was the post man. That would explain the big void in my mailbox that corresponds to the big void on my bank account. The whole week I was expecting packs and parcels but nothing arrived. Not even advertisements. But today was the day!

Of course, I didn’t run over anybody yet but I couldn’t think of anything else as an explanation. When I checked today before leaving for my Game Development course with Jonny 1 I checked my mailbox and a friendly brown package labeled Amazon was waiting for me, on top of yesterday’s issue of the Herald Tribune despite the fact that Salzburg was among the three cities in Austria where one can get the day’s issue and not the “old” one. I guess good old Puch is a town too far away from Mozart’s birthplace. Nevermind.

“What for does an MMA student like you need a daily newspaper? It’s analogue and reading it would eat up a lot of time!” Jonny asked me today. “You can wrap up things for eBay” I replied, hoping that this wouldn’t become the only truth. On the other hand I am pretty sure that I’ll find the time to read Foucault’s Discipline and Punish in the near future.

But the delivery I anticipated the most came a few hours later: I got a call from the local FedEx woman asking me about my whereabouts. Luckily it wasn’t a problem for her to visit me at the school’s front entrance where she handed me a package from the Valve Store — not before taking all the money I had in my pocket: 23.24 € for taxes. All in all two t-shirts and the cheapest poster cost me the odd amount of 73.73 €. But I try to stay positive. That’s 73 bonus miles!

The HL2DM shirt will be my new lucky charm when I’m clicking away in Hammer or hammering away my mates in the deathmatch. The Portal shirt shall be worn, when I feel so hungry as if I had a portal on my tummy and the Counterstrike: Source Poster shall be placed behind my chair to scare people when I am chatting via my webcam.
