The max_result_rect error in After Effects
March 14, 2008 1:24 am Computing, Vista Issues, ranting
Just wanted to let you know: After Effects CS3 is bitchy, unstable and has a bad performance: It crashes suddenly and with no reason, while it stays in RAM and on screen forever when you quit. And it produces errors with gray-scale and/or CMYK PNGs.
Oh, if you ever stumble across the following error message (and you will stumble across it)

Just insert an unaltered Color Correction (HLS) effect on top of your effects stack in question and it’ll be good. According to other bloggers and Creative Cow there’s nothing else you can do. As if it was your fault anyway…

One more thing is annoying too with AFX and PNG’s. If you render a PNG-image-sequence and try to use it in Flash you will get a completely broken image representation(large scaled, about 3M pix or more).
AFX is such a crap!

I take this as a sign to switch my compositing to Shake or Nuke for good. We should start a self-help group…
