FMX ’11, Day One

Today was more or less routine. In total I did not spend more than about fifteen days in my whole life in Stuttgart and many things feel so boringly familiar to me already: Breakfast in the common room of the hotel, packing my bag for the conference, parking in the Most Expensive Parking Garage, obtaining my ticket from the front desk. Still, there are a few things that have changed over the years… -

fmx ’11, Day Zero

It was an exhausting day despite its predictability. I got up after four hours of sleep, finished packing my bag and got ready for holding my last lecture at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences before leaving for the fmx 2011. Yes, it’s May, it’s springtime and nerds are feeling frisky for visual effects. The perfect time for their industry’s annual gathering in Stuttgart — with yours truly among them.

Spending a week in the beautiful Tyrol with the beautiful Conny inspired me to write a short story that may be the beginning of a larger and more extensive narrative. Maybe it’ll get longer when I find the time to continue it. I have a bunchload of ideas, I only lack the bunchload of time to pursue it. Blog Relaunch 2011

Happy New Year everybody! And welcome to my old blog with a shiny new design.. In a couple of days this blog will celebrate its 5th anniversary with this second relaunch — and boy, it was about time! I am getting fat — it’s the truth. Because what your dear mother keeps telling her only child just
has to be true. Last visit in September at my parents, my mom looked at me and bluntly stated “Getting fat, aren’t we?” to which I only could reply “Really? You mean like yourself?” That settled it for a few weeks. But then she called me a week ago “Do you look like Garfield already? You know furry, and orange … and fat?” — “I know who Garfield is, mom!” -

A good friend of mine is a game designer who designs actual games, and recently he asked me for one little favor which made me feel honored at first but also a little clueless on second thought, stressed in the process and eventually set me under creative pressure. But in the end everything turned out well… -
